I’ve been writing about spring home staging tips you need to know for years now. Very honestly, they don’t really change year to year. But if you are selling your home, you need to stage and style it before you even think about putting it on the market.
The history of Home Staging
Just so you know, the concept of Home Staging was created in 1973 by Barb Schwarz. She knew houses could look better than they did. After selling real estate since 1987, in 2006, I flew to Chicago and learned directly from Barb – her principles and perspective on Home Staging. Why? I also knew houses could look better than they did.
The home seller who told me he wasn’t going to repaint his blue and white sponge painted kitchen cabinets was the last straw for me. I knew what needed to happen but I left his house feeling defeated. His home didn’t show well but I just didn’t know how to sell it.
After learning the principles of Home Staging, I never looked back. Home Staging was always about using the things that were in the house to create the home’s best look. Whether it’s about updating your kitchen, or rearranging your furniture and accessories, my goal is to create your home’s best Model Home Look. You know the look…getting the buyers to say, “I could live here.”
Naturally, some homes are harder to stage and style than others, but I have a good eye to create a great look using anything you’ve got.
To this day, I follow Barb’s Top 10 Things to do for every home but after almost 20 years of staging occupied homes, I created my own 7 Magical Home Staging Hacks that sellers need to know, other Realtors have no clue about and home stagers wish they knew. That’s what I call confidence and I’m confident that by following my Home Staging Secrets, you will also sell your home faster and for more money with a 3 Day Home Selling Event.
